If you want a charming, farmhouse-style project that’s fast, fun, and perfect for using up jean scraps, a denim wreath is it. By twisting or braiding strips of old denim and securing them into a circle, you can create a chunky, textured wreath that’s perfect for any season. Hang it on your front door, over a mantle, or as part of a gallery wall for a cozy, handmade touch.

Transform your old jeans into unique home decor with a handmade, rustic denim wreath—perfect for adding crafty charm to any door.

What You’ll Need

  • Old jeans
  • Fabric scissors
  • Wire wreath form or sturdy wire to create a frame
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Optional: Twine, ribbon, artificial flowers for embellishment

Instructions

1. Cut Your Denim

  • Cut long strips of denim about 1–2 inches wide.
  • Mix different shades for a layered look or stick to a uniform wash.

2. Prepare the Frame

  • Use a wire wreath form or bend thick wire into a circle about 12–18 inches wide.
  • You can also use a sturdy embroidery hoop if you want a lighter wreath.

3. Create Your Denim Base

  • Braid or twist the strips loosely for texture.
  • Wrap the braided/twisted denim around the frame, gluing in place every few inches to secure.
  • Continue until the entire frame is covered.

4. Add Embellishments (Optional)

  • Tie on a burlap or twine bow, tuck in faux flowers, or add seasonal decorations depending on where you want to display it.

5. Finish and Hang

  • Add a loop of twine at the top for hanging.

This project is super flexible—you can leave it plain for a rugged, minimalist look or dress it up with twine, flowers, or ribbons depending on the season. Whether you hang it on a front door, above a fireplace, or in a cozy hallway nook, a handmade denim wreath offers a creative, sustainable way to showcase your love for DIY and rustic charm.

Hi! I’m Lori Ballen. I’m a midlife creator who finds joy in home projects, cozy spaces, effortless style, and simple-but-delicious recipes. I started this lifestyle blog as my personal outlet—a place to create, explore, and share what I’m loving right now.

I live in Las Vegas and travel often, especially on solo adventures and cruises that feed my love for freedom and discovery. When I’m not writing or filming, I’m probably hanging out at home with my two adopted cats—one spunky and playful, the other a total lap lover. They’re constant companions in my quiet, creative life.

This blog is a reflection of that life—equal parts fun, functional, and full of soul. Whether you’re looking for a new DIY idea, a comfy outfit, or a quick dinner recipe, I hope you find inspiration here to create a home and lifestyle you love.
