Social media has become the source of most people’s information nowadays, including politics, news, and business advertisements. Posting on social media through your business can be a fun and creative way to engage with your current and future clients.

Posting on your business’s social media platforms can be a bit of a balancing act. If you do not post enough, your potential future clients will be steered away towards other businesses that are more active online. However, posting too much could overwhelm your clients, and you might end up losing followers.

Research has shown a method that can work for you and your business’s social media platform.

There is a specific count of how often your business should post on social media for each particular outlet.

Your number of followers on your business’s Facebook profile will determine the number of times you should be posting online.

If your business’s page has 10,000 followers or more, then it is safe to post more than once per day. If the page has less than 10,000 followers, then once a day is the most you should consider.

The more a business posts on Facebook, the more their outreach drops. Facebook’s algorithm of posts on people’s feeds is prioritized by friends and family, making it more difficult for businesses to receive organic leads. But posting more often will not typically help. The more times you post, the less likely Facebook will be to display every post to all of your followers.

This can get confusing because you don’t want to post so much that Facebook only shows your post to a small number of people.

On the other hand, you don’t want to post so infrequently that you cannot get many views even if all your followers see it.

Posting anywhere from about once per day to several times per week is generally a good place to start. If you have a lot of followers, you can go slightly more than this.

Of course, you always want to be testing your strategy to come up with what works best.

With Twitter reach, you can post as much as you would like a day. The average shelf life is no more than 20 minutes before the tweet becomes lost in the tread. However, the average business does not typically have time to post that much on Twitter.

A business’s posting strategy on Twitter will depend on the goal. If the company has a plan to receive higher engagement rates, then the goal should be to post about 3-5 times per day.

An active Twitter account will get more responses to around three tweets per day, but anything more than five will cause the rate to decrease.

For popular Instagram business accounts, consistency is more important than quantity. The top brands on Instagram post no more than 1 to 2 times per day, and they stick with that rate.

If the account changes the consistency with which they post, the engagement – as well as the follower count – may decrease.

For most companies, it is a good idea to commit to posting once per day. After several months of this, you can begin to increase this number slowly over time.

Always monitor your statistics to see what is most effective.

LinkedIn is a professional networking website. The content a business posts is the most important thing, and this should pertain to business-related topics such as industry news, announcements, and job opportunities.

This helps encourage your followers to stay up on the latest happenings in the business, and they feel like they are still productive, even while scrolling a social media website.

It is recommended to post on LinkedIn once to twice a day, every business day. Posts that go up on the weekends typically do not see the same engagement as during the weekdays.

Always Be Testing

The most important thing when it comes to learning how often to post on social media is constantly testing. All social media platforms provide you with excellent analytics tools.

Use a tool like Social Pilot to see how many people view each post, how many are reacting to the post, how many people are commenting on a post, and perhaps most importantly, how many are sharing it.

Figuring out what gets the best responses is the best way to get the most out of your social media accounts.
